Astra Passenger Coaches main object of activity is the manufacturing and repair of rolling stock.
The company origins can be traced back over a century ago to Johann Weitzer’s decision to establish in Arad the Wagons and Motors Factory Johann Weitzer S.A. During the tumultuous years of the previous century, the company changed its name to ASTRA, got nationalized and split into several divisions and then, finally after 1990 all of the Astra divisions gradually transitioned toward market economy and got privatized.
At present, ASTRA Passenger Coaches Plc. has both the technical know-how and the manufacturing and testing capabilities to produces any type of 200 km/h passenger coaches for international UIC traffic, metros, trams, and maintenance services, reconstruction and modernization of passenger coaches, as well as turnkey solutions according to our clients' needs.
